Swallow

Altona

This little fellow was so fast that I just could not track him. Tried dozens of times and managed only this shot as a keeper.
About 50 others are just streaks and blurs!
He must have a nest close by because he continually swooped at me coming only inches from me.
The things we do for a photo?

Thanks Mikey, Nico, Cat and Sharon appreciate your comments. This was a challenge, I was determined to get a shot of this Welcome Swallow as it dive-bombed me. They are so fast, I even tried predicting where it would pass me and manually focussed on that position. Got lots of empty backgrounds that way?

In the end it was the 'machine gun' like shutter speed of the 1D IIN that caught it, despite the slow reflexes of the 'Old F__t photog' This is pretty much as shot with just a whisker of crop. ~ Regards Bob

From purple model jets to feathered "jets"! Bob, you do seem to have a passion for - and great ability to capture - all sorts of fast-moving flying objects. I have no idea how you did this and have certainly never came vague close myself. Splendidly done! Regards ~jnconradie

Very nice shot, Bob! I can appreciate all the effort required to catch this. Those little rascals really swoop and do fly fast. It sounds like s/he was threatened by you, so more than likely protecting the nest. Anyway, its a beauty! Nice bokeh, too. -mikey
