Those are actually leaves, by the way. The flowers come on inflorescences that emerge from between the leaves. I'm pretty sure that's a kind of Sempervivens. If not, then it's a related genus in the Crassulacea family. Try googling both those words and/or "Hens and Chicks" -- Victor

Thanks Sam. I've decided to leave the stem because it is very much part of the flower, it was makes this flower so unique. Thanks for the comments. Judi
Judi, very nice colors and composition. DOF plays beautifully. I agree with Sharon's suggestion. Looking forwarf to see the result. Sam Attal

Thanks Sharon. I already removed most of the stem before I saw your post, but I will try to remove more without losing the fact that it is actually a bush. I don't know what this plant is called, found it in the gardens of a monastary and there were no signs giving the name. Judi
Very nice, Judi! You captured really good bokeh on the edges of the petals in the background. I would be tempted to crop up from the bottom a bit and the left side so that you mostly had blossoms in the image and not so much stem. The stem tends to draw my eye out of the picture. This is a remarkable plant, what is it? ~Sharon
