In response to suggestions, I've replaced the original image with one that has more light on the enameled discs. Any better?

Excellent! I can now see the beautiful colors and details on the stones. And I like the folds in the background fabric--it adds interest. --Melanie

Nice redo Mary Anne and the light looks great on the stones - love the swirly patterns and colors in them! CJ

Nice composition, though I agree with Olaf...I'd like to see more light/detail on the stones (?). --Melanie

Thanks for your comments, Olaf. I shot this with the late afternoon light coming through the tree outside the window, and the wind kept changing the areas of light and shadow. I agree with what you said and will try to retake it if the circumstances are right. However, rain is forecast for the next few days, so I may have to try it in artificial light.

The quality of light is very nice, but I feel it's a weekness that the brightest area within the frame is 'the background'. I feel that beam of light should have been on the 'stones' or whatever they are. Better yet, because I do like what that beam of light is doing to the shot, another beam on the point of main interest - perhaps combined with a slight toning down of the beam on the background... Another nit: the crease (or wave) in the fabric looks a little accidental - either I'd like to see more waves or none at all. I am only saying all of this, because I feel this is so close to being an exceptional shot!
