Yep. I like this too. Very well seen and executed. And what an amazing color of purple for a building. Got those thirds nailed too :) Jim H.

After seeing the wide view, I have to say you did an excellent job of creating a great image from a not so great building! I really like the composition/cropping, and this is certainly purple! :-) CJ

Thanks, everyone, for the nice comments. I am glad you liked it.

Olaf / Bob : Thank you for the comments about local architecture and comparing it to works of true masters, but I think you will agree when you see what the whole building looks like, that this is really NOT great architecture. My "minimalist" shot was indeed minimal enough to flatter the building enormously, I think. :-)

A wider view is athttp://www.pbase.com/image/69171147 , but be warned, it is not a pretty sight! :-)

Thanks for the kind and gracious comments nevertheless. Regards ~jnconradie

Now, I can! Nice minimalistic abstract Nico. The color brings my mind to the Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta (also active in the US, for example the 'Pershing Square' and 'Bradley International Hall' at UCLA, both in Los Angeles, CA; 'Children's Discovery Museum' in San Jose, CA; 'Solana', Dallas TX - just to mention a few).

Hi Olaf... I saw your note and inexplicably had the same problem from this end of world. I re-uploaded the file and it is now visible again... well, to me at least. Any luck on your side? Kind regards ~jnconradie

I can't see the image - in any size!

A beautiful abstract/minimalist shot Nico, great find.

Cheers, Vikas.

Thanks, Melanie and Bob. Yes, Bob, it is a gable of a commercial building in "downtown" Melville, a suburb of Johannesburg. I am not too fond of such boldly painted buildings personally, but this side-view seemed to fit the Challenge topic too well to be ignored. Regards ~jnconradie

Terrific, another example of 'less is more', Nico. I am really taken by the Architecture in SA, is this the 'gable' of a house or building structure? So simple and clean! Regards ~ Bob

Beautiful and striking. I really like the composition, and that gorgeous shade of purple. --Melanie
