Very nicely done Sam- I really like the creativity of the water drop.

Lovely peacock feather Sam. The details and color look great and the water drop adds interest. Nice! CJ

Sam, congratulations on having pulled this off wonderfully.

I know, because I tried myself to get a peacock feather shot done for this Challenge. :-) What is that saying about "great minds...." ?

I have lots of out-takes, but nothing which came close. You managed to get the colours to come through beautifully. Mine was just too dull/drab.

Well done! Regards

Thanks to all for your support and helpful instructions. I thought I resized to 150K but the image came too small initially. I will make sure things are according to specification in future postings. My idea here was to emphasize the rule of thirds and the color purple with a water drop.

I meant to add, beautiful shot! Also, thank you Olaf for taking the time to post the resizing information. --Melanie

That was nice of you Melanie, but Sam still needs to know how to do it, should he wish to participate with more images in the future...

Sam, as I don't know what software you are using, it is hard to give any exact instructions, but I assume you have Elements as it came with your 20D:

1. Image>Resize> Image size... In the window that appears type in the width and height (in pixels) you desire in the 'Pixel dimensions' box. I'd recommend something in the 600-800px range on the longest side of the image. Make sure the 'Resample image' checkbox is checked and the drop-down menu next to it is set to 'Bicubic'

2. File>Save As... Choose JPEG in the drop-drown menu next to 'Format:' In the window that appears, adjust the quality slider while looking in the 'Size' box. Put the quality slider as high as you can (for best quality) while staying under, say, 140kb in size (Photoshop is not very correct in its size prediction, so the 140kb is a precaution taken to avoid the image really ending up bigger than 150kb).

And once again, welcome to the challenges!

Sam, I found the original still in my memory on my work computer--so I copied it and re-uploaded it. I remembered seeing it briefly yesterday on the main gallery page--but I don't know what happened after that (I was going to do something about it once I got home--but it was already moved. And since I hadn't viewed the original on my home computer, there was nothing I could do about it.) I hope that's okay. --Melanie

It's a beautiful shot! But now it is really tiny (270x180 pixels)... ???
