I missed seeing the original version of this, but I have to say that I like this one a lot. It sounds like it was a lot of work but it's a lovely result! Jim H.

Beautiful veggies Bob, and I also thought about trying an eggplant shot but after seeing yours, decided against it! Nice one! :-) CJ

Love the eggplant and leaves together -- beautiful. The funny thing is, a few nights ago I actually dreamt about looking at an eggplant (though it didn't really look like a real eggplant), and thinking --'hey, I could shoot that for the challenge'. And really, that's very odd for me--because I NEVER think about eggplant. I don't even like eggplant. Then a couple of days later I saw this...weird. :) --Melanie

Thanks everyone for your patience and helpful comments, I reworked this and removed the embossing, it was tedious but I think better as you suggest. I photographed the display on a white table napkin which was embossed, hence the pattern you could see.

It looked OK in the full res. version but downsized looked like artifacts. I used the napkin so as not to stain my new soft-box liner, which I carefully ironed for this occasion. Thanks again, regards Bob

Agreed, this is better, and like Nico & Victor those marks under the leaves are now the distraction...

I think this version is much better, but also feel like Victor about those watermarks. Perhaps a little more PhotoShop work required in that area? Regards ~jnconradie

I find the vertical lines nearly in the center to be very distracting. The watermark, or whatever that is, underneath the vegetables is also distracting. At first I thought it was jpeg artifacts. It probably wouldn't bother me so much if I saw a large print. -- Victor

Thanks Nico, Phil and Alastair, I did lighten up the leaves etc. a little, agree that they were a too dark and that blue line was supposed to be purple/mauve so I faded it to be a little less conspicuous Phil. Started out with plain white background but it seemed a little too 'stark'. Appreciate the feedback, Regards Bob

Beautiful job Bob. Very nice PS work.

Sometimes you see a picture and think "Why didn't I think of that?"
The leaves, the eggplant are all excellent.
I'm not 100% on the background, though, especially the blue line - that's not to say it's bad, but I think I would have gone for a plain (probably white) background. Of course, I might not have made such a good job...
Nice work.

Seriously interesting stuff... and fun, too! You clearly went to much trouble to set this up (including cutting it up!), plus to add the background/surface, lighting, etc. etc. I love the interesting shades of colour on the surfaces. My (minor) suggestion for improvement would be that I find the top part of the arrangement slightly on the dark side, with some detail difficult to figure out. (Perhaps my monitor only.) Well done!
