Hi Alexeig...great to see your work here.
This is a excellent shot, although I too miss where the purple may be.
Why the brutal compression...?

Many thanks for comments. I shall try to do something about this image

Chris' comment made me smile - purple fringing as an artistic device? Hey, why not!

But there is much too much compression atrifacting going on here - I know this amoutn of detail can be hard to compress to 150k but it ought to be possible to get a better quality image than this.

I too don't really see the purple, and to be honest I think it misses on the thirds rule too - though that might be be being over-picky; I think perhaps a little more cropping on the right might help there (the extra foliage doesn't add anything and would help the image compress better too).

I think that this is a nice shot, but way over compressed, I am not really seeing purple either, unless of course you count some purple fringing.

I thought that the leaves above the church present a shade of purple ...

Pretty landscape with pretty colors, but I must admit...I'm barely seeing the purple :). --Melanie

I see a purplish haze in the horizon and sky, but it isn't VERY striking ;) Alexeig: If you add one "space" character in front of a link after a linebreak here on pbase, it comes through as a clickable hyperlink. SOme PBase bug. And if you sharpen less, it compresses better, higher quality. JPG sampling and compression contains some sharpening logic in itself. I'd try just downscaling the original, unsharpened, see if the quality doesn't get better. Might just rid you of the artifacts.
