Other than overcoming my reluctance to put my face on the web, my biggest challenge has been framing the shot. Congratulations to all you who have made it look so easy.

I took a class over the summer from Craig Kienast who uses a combination of Photoshop and Painter to get this effect. This challenge has given me a good excuse to pull out my notes and play around. His website is: http://www.photock.com/

The painter program stripped out the EXIF. Here is the info from the original shot.

From the thumbnail, you really look like Kess from the Star Trek series. Overall, I like the painterly effect. However, the brush strokes impart a look of wrinkles around the lips and teeth. I don't have a suggestion for improvement. This is the type of thing that prevents me from doing painterly stuff more than I do. -- Victor

Beautiful, such gorgeous, sparkly eyes! It's been a long time since I've played with Painter. I really enjoy it, but haven't tried it in forever. I think I should go about re-learning it. --Melanie (mlynn)

Thanks Bob. I've never put a frame on a photo before, but I like the transparent 3-D effect this one produces. There is so much room for experimentation using this technique. - CameraShy09

I think this is really beautiful. I have to say though that for me it is even more spectacular without the frame but instead some vignetting in darker shades in the top RHS and perhaps LHS as well. Really love those eyes. We all have our view on frames, but I am coming to the view that more often than not they distract rather than enhance. Best regards ~ Bob
