Have you tried this with fully central composition?

Thanks, Michael and Cheryl! As to the imperfections, I was also torn about taking them out or leaving them in. I have actually cloned out a lot of the most distracting ones already. But I guess my thinking was that egg balancing on the equinox is usually done by folks with whatever they have available not in a "clean room". So, I left many of the scratches and dimples in the glaze of the old platter. ~Sharon

Well, Sharon, it may not be what you were originally aiming for, but it's dynamite. The shapes revealed by all of the extreme highlights/shadows are fabulous. I'm really torn over both liking all of the nuances of imperfections in the plate and wanting them gone resulting in an extremely clean image. Thoughts on this? -Michael

Thanks, Mary Anne! This was not the shot I was originally going for but this one was so intriguing I couldn't resist it. ~Sharon

In the reflection it looks almost as if the egg has already been opened. Very interesting lines, Sharon, which give it a kind of planetary feel.
