The photog's great - screw the artifacts! ~ Lonnit

Thanks Lonnit... if ya squint a little ya don't notice those orrible artifacts thingys... lets blame compression and not the slack 'Photog".. I like that ~ Regards Bob

I can deal with it like this. I'm just going to blame compression, b/c you've done a great job! Really super; it's got so much sparkle and punch! ~ Lonnit

Thanks Lonnit, yep I gave it a workout with too much sharpening but I'd have to go back to the archives to find the original and start again cos this one is about burnt out now. Bit too lazy. Really appreciate your patience and it is good to get honest feedback. ~ regards Bob.

Hey, did you tweak it b.c. it's popping now! I won't comment about the little bit of haloing in the branches and the background from a bit of oversharpening, and I didn't even say that. ;) LOVE the shot! I cannot believe this shot is not getting comments other than mine. It's got a wonderful feel. ~ Lonnit

Yes, this lighter version is better. Question, though... is this the exact version that you originally posted, sans self? I ask only b.c. it seems to have a tad less contrast. I wouldn't mind if you gave the curve a slight tweak for a bit more contrast. Then I'll shut up! LOL! It's really quite a nice image; a lovely time of day to shoot. I want to try doing some portraits in this light, after reading an article in Rangefinder about it. ~ Lonnit

Some of us CAN be hurt you Know? (LOL) I go around with a brown paper bag over my head already... what more can one ask... OK... um! ... did lighten it up again, this is a 30 second exposure, so did not want it to look too bright. Thanks for your considered comments Lonnit, Regards Bob.

So much better without you - er, um, I didn't mean that the way it sounds! LOL! ;) Hmmmm.... I think I prefer the lighter version; we're losing some stars, tree detail, and color. There was more pop in the original, brighter version. ~ Lonnit

Thanks Lonnit, I have to agree with you on breaking the rules, I had a re-look at this and made some changes, cloned out me and left the original posts there, but also noted that the image displayed here is noticably lighter than when opened in PS, so I dropped the levels a bit. I think this is a bit better. ~ regards, Bob

Lovely! I would prefer the shadows cropped/cloned out. To me, the photog in the shot does not add to the image. Self shadows in an image, to me, are amaturish, unless they have good reason to be there. As I always say, if you're going to break a rule, you've got to absolutely shatter it, or it just looks like a mistake. Lovely, lovely image!!! ~ Lonnit
