Shielded From Sin

San Diego

From my TV gallery: http://www.pbase.com/mfeather/tv

Natural sunlight via a large window as the sole light source. Maybe too much.

The idea is excellent. So is the whole series in your gallery.
I will object the use of the 10mm focal range. The TV set is so distorted it does not look real anymore.
It seems to me a lot of people use 10mm just because they have it and it is "cool" without realizing how detrimental it can be to their picture. But this is more a rant or possibly envy as I do not own a 10-20 but a 12-24... :-)

Beautifully done, Mikel. Thanks for including the link to your TV gallery, great images. I don't feel like there's too much light from the window...you've handled the highlights and gradations wonderfully. I love the light on all of the elements here: floor, model, umbrella, wall. I agree with Lonnit that a bit more separation between hair and umbrella would be nice but it really is a spectacular piece regardless. -Michael

Lonnit,

The B&W conversion is the culprit here. The umbrella is actually red, and would not have blended so mcuh if I had left it as a color image. However, the series was intended as black and white from the start, so I should have considered a different colored umbrella or a reflector.

Very nice. I really would have liked a reflector bouncing some detail light under the umbrella to separate her hair from the background. ~ Lonnit

This is good, really good. The B&W treatment is superb too --- aam1234
