Thank you. This is a tropical vine whose name escapes me for some reason. Here in Texas, it usually blooms only in the fall. These flowers are much earlier than normal for Austin, probably because of the hot year we've had. They freeze down to the ground in the winter, and if unprotected, the whole plant can be killed. But the following spring, if not dead, the plant shoots up again vigorously.
This particular color is hard to capture accurately, by the way. I think there is a lot of ultraviolet light fluorescing as blue/violet, so it's very easy to clip the blue channel. When this happens, the color is destroyed.
Victor, I have been slow in complimenting you on this beautifully composed picture. It is crisp, stands out against the green background superbly, and conveys a perfect "spring-like" feeling. (But I guess it is only for the Southern Hemisphere people where the connection between September and Spring would be so relevant!) Compliments. ~jnconradie
