Did an almost square crop as suggested and added a little high pass. Judi

Great portrait and a square crop is a good idea! shu

Great work Judi! wouldn't mind a square crop either. -Cat

Well done, nice and expressive portrait... the lack of sharpness is a pitty...

A very expressive face and gaze. Glad you reworked it a bit from your original post, this feels more natural. -Michael

The face looks better now.

It would have been worth it to have approached her and asked to take a pic. I generally prefer the candidness of a stolen image, but, when you just can't steal it, you at least stand a 50% chance of the person agreeing to sit. Some people just get irritated if you don't ask, and make it hard for you. Often, just the respect of being asked is all they really want, and they might be very flattered. ~ Lonnit

Thanks jbconradie, she kept turning away from me when she saw the camera, she would make an awsome subject to photograph close up.

In terms of being "on topic", I would give it 10/10, JudiB. What a pity you could not get closer to take a really sharp shot. Nicely seen. Regards ~jnconradie

Lonnit, it was too much brightness/contrast, though it looked fine on my hard drive it does look extreme now that I saw it again here. The picture is cropped a lot because I couldn't get too close to her, but I couldn't resist her powerful face. Replaced it with a less contrasty version.

What's going on with the poor image quality here? I'm thinking maybe this image was OOF and you're trying to salvage it with oversharpening that's causing some serious halos. ??? ~ Lonnit
