Rather than trying to remove the wood structure (which would be difficult), why not just de-saturate and darken it a bit. That's quite easy to do, and will make it much less distracting.

Thanks for you comments. I myself have also debated if I should loose the exit sign or not. However, in the end I liked the extra heigth it adds to the image and the interplay Victor points out. What I do not like though is the busy background. I have tried many times to remove the wood structure to the left and the trolley to the right, but I'm no PS wiz...

Then you'd lose the interplay between the exit sign and the popsicle. Maybe that's a good thing, but I kind of like it the way it is. -- Victor

Nice lighting and expression. I would crop some of the top to put her eyes about 2/3 of the way up. It would also be good to try to recover some of the highlights on the lolly and her fingers.
