Thank you, Grace!

Fragile, yet strong. Love the pop of colours against the mono-like background. You have a terrific photo here.

Thank you so much, Cheryl! You are right... she went from door to door trying to sell her flowers.... with not so much success.... it was very early in the morning, about 7am... so...

Had to say this! In my HO the face is just NOT needed here at all. In fact that's what makes you love this pic, it stands alone and tells the story of her work and the hard walk she takes carrying her flowers. The picture shows you her age and her tired body, but this is how she makes her bit of money. The blown lilies just draw to the lady more instead of the flowers. Wow I love this, just love it. A work of art is what it is to me. Great shot!

Thanks Aditya and Michael... the Calas are not burned out on the original...while adjusting contrasts I did a poor job, I think...

A fabulous piece, Pedro. While it would be great to recover the highlights in the calla lillies, that's really a very minor thing for me. The sense of movement, the colors, the character of the lady shining through are so strong and overpower any minor flaws, IMHO. Indeed, I'm not the least surprised it's one of your favorite images...it will be one of mine also. -Michael

Thanks Lonnit, I thought it was just me. Now it is showing again.

You're right, since a couple of months now, I switched over to RAW. But anyway, the colors here are more intense than the original JPG, just because of the increased contrast. I have to return and look for this lady again ;-)

Pedro, the image is showing as a broken link. Try changing the file name and then uploading it as a replacement image. As for jpg, if this was shot as a jpg, the camera is indeed set to adjust the saturation, as well as sharpness and contrast. To get a truly pure capture, you must shoot RAW. ~ Lonnit

Thanks Michael, Traveller and Lonnit! This is one of my favorite images.

I did not increase the saturation, the colors are natural. What I did, I increased contrast doing some levels...that certainly gave the colors more dyanamics... nop, I did it in JPG...

About shooting her face... I did it, but it is not a pleasent pic, since the background is disturbing... and then, I wanted to show this old lady climbing up the hill... hence, shooting from the back...

thanks again for commenting!
Pedro

I agree with Lonnit....lol...pull back the saturation just a tad. Still, a great image. Best Wishes, Traveller

I agree with Traveller. Good subject, well composed, emotional impact. The colors are a tad vivid - the blue/white shawl is jumping around on me. Any chance of pulling some detail back into the flowers thru RAW or shadow/highlight? ~ Lonnit

About seeing her face, I think I disagree. Her labor is timeless and she's trudging...if we saw her from the front, she'd be walking into us, a different emotional experience than carrying her burdens away into the distance. A fine character study that is not a portrait, IMHO. Best Wishes, Traveller

I just love this picture. The diagonal composition is great, I like the range of different colours in the flowers, clothing and background. And obviously a very interesting subject. It would have been nice to see her face to give it more "character".
