Thanks guys! Cat, I used a small halogen flashlight as the only source of light after dark. Shone it from the side, down low. I don't experiment with such things very often--and don't really know what I'm doing...so the background was somewhat noisy in places. I added a gradient to the background to smooth things out a bit.

What an eerie coincidence: I was messing around with a very similar shell yesterday (25/6) to see if I could make its leading lines come to life. But I did not experiment boldly enough with such strong lighting from the side. Mine thus looked far too "flat" and boring. Now I see what I should have done! Thanks for helping my learning curve.
