Lonnit, thank you for being honest as you always are. This is the only way we learn what others think! I appreciate your comments and I do see what you mean.
For me, the center of interest is that first pole, which unfortunately, is just not interesting. It appears you followed the rules of composition, got a nice exposure with a rich sky and details in the snow without blowouts, and you met the leading line criteria, but, for me, the center of interest is the stick, not the mountain, and that makes it uninteresting. Maybe if you'd shot a close-up of the stick, by the knot, with a shallow DOF, making the mountain a blurry background, from a closer and slightly lower angle, it could have been more intersting. As is, it seems more of a too-bad-that-stick-got-in-the-way shot, which is one might think if this image were shown outside the challenge theme. I'm thinking you'd not have shot this image this way at all had it not been for the challenge. ;) ~ Lonnit
