Thanks everyone. The rack that the fork was in is coated with a completely red plastic. The light was supplied entirely by a 580 EX on an off-camera cord using my home-made diffuser on it. It was laying just to the left of the rack and the whole works was just sitting on our kitchen table. That let me hold the camera in both hands while taking the shot.

So the light was coming pretty much entirely from down low at the lower left corner of the frame. Jim H.

I am always astonished by what some people can create by using the most commonplace objects or settings, mixed with wonderful creativity - and of course a healthy dose of solid technique. This falls squarely into that category, Jim, at least in my opinion. How did you create the eerie red light, by the way? Great stuff. ~jnconradie
