I have to agree that this is a really appealing shot. You did well in composing and processing!

I love this shot - it's really beautiful! And thanks for the info on the processing - the colors, texture and lighting came out perfectly. I like how the cloud on the right and weed seem to point to the mill arm. :-) CJ

Yes, I was flat on the ground... :) And I also used a polarizer. The making of this photo was still a bit more of a pain than I would have liked, because I had to underexpose pretty severely (-1 2/3 ev in evaluative metering for the whole frame) to keep the hues on the sky and then make another "overexposed exposure" at about +3ev from the RAW file for the forground. So, in practice I exposed for the sky and underexposed the foreground -4 1/3 ev's when taking the shot... As a side effect that also resulted in some unwanted and unavoidable extra noise for the foreground. I could have exposed for the foreground and taken another separete hand held shot for the sky, but... that would have been even more of a hassle in postprocessing, trying to sandwitch two separate hand held shots together. And I have this tendency to think that it's somehow more "honest" photography to take single exposures, than making composites... :)

It is beautiful, Arn. I can just imagine that you were probably flat on the grass to get this angle right? The colour-combination also works very nicely for me. Did you use a polarizer? Regards ~jnconradie
