this is very nice but seems a little muddy. had you thought about boosting the contrast a bit?

Eyecatching, propeller-like petals, very cool. --Melanie (mlynn)

Thank you Dorys, Debbi and Michael!! I am so glad that you all liked it! -Cat
Michael, There is no special treatment for the petals. Some petals were open completely, while others were half open, so there is a fine line of shadow in the center ridge of the petals. And some petals have fine hairs at the edges, while others didn't. And yes, I did use the shadow-highlight tool to balance the brightness of the petals in relation with the background.
Hope this helps in understanding the PP better.
Thanks again! -Cat

I have started commenting on this a couple of times, but couldn't really put into words why I like it. There is just something about the delicate treatment of the petals. Very well done, anyway.

Cat, this is really striking and bold. At the same time it has a certain delicate feeling. -Michael

It seems to be a personal preference of mine: pictures with strong graphics and simple, eye-catching lines. This is therefore perfectly up my street. I like it! ~jnconradie
