An Abrupt Stop*

Windsor

I bought a D200 just to be able to use this lens to shoot this sport. I'm probably mad but a few more shots like this will make me feel it was worth it.

Nikon D200 ,Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G ED-IF AF-S VR
1/800s f/4.0 at 270.0mm iso400 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Thanks for the comments. As to the background, it was a pretty wet day and this was the best light I got just after it stopped raining. I was shooting into the light somewhat so the trees are in the shade as well as there being lots of moisture in the air which I think explains the lack of contrast. Noise hasn't been a big issue for me with the D200 so far though it was something I wasn't sure about before I got the thing - I'm finding Iso 800 usable.

Nice shot Bob, good crisp focus with good DOF. I like the turf "explosion" .. really good capture. I am intrigued with the smokey nature of the background.. is that mist/fog or is it noise at ISO 400? Well done Bob. ~ Melbob
