Love the contrast of good ol' worn jeans and the crisp dollar bill. Lots of nice details and a pleasing overall composition. -Michael

Very attractive composition. I like the lines and elements. However, I like it a lot better with a significant boost in contrast and saturation.

Missed the original one. But I kinda like it the way it is now. -Cat

I'm with you, Traveller. I preferred the original. This one seems lop-sided by comparison. -- Victor

Well, different strokes for different folks, as the saying goes. I stronly preferred the original version. It was lighter, the money and rivet stood out better...well, who knows, it's your call Larry. Best Wishes, Traveller

Turning the jeans on an angle REALLy took this from a "ok" composition, to an excellent composition. Isn't it amazing what a slight change can do to an image? Ofcourse, that's part of what I always thought these challenges / photo assignments were about...
learning and having fun in the process. Markjay

1,000% better! This is such a stronger composition. Even the bill, as is, works better. Because the composition really works now, it doesn't make me want to find faults. It all comes together now and the crispness of the bill not only doesn't bother me, but instead now really works as a contrast to the tattered old jeans. Excellent job!! And I love and respect the way you've taken the comments to heart and used them to push yourself to a better image. THAT'S why we're here, right? Kudos on a job well done!!~ Lonnit

Thanks for the nice comments and feedback. I changed the viewing angle slightly since that seemed to be the general consensus for improving this shot. Larry

I don't see any discord among the tones or colors, and the crisp bill is a nice contrast to the soft/frayed threads surrounding it. I do think a more oblique shooting angle could increase interest and make the placement of the bill seem less contrived. But a nice, well-executed start to the gallery as is. --Mr. Biscuit

I have jeans that look like this. I've banned myself from wearing them in public though, cos I'd probably get arrested for indecent exposure. And as the denim gets older and shabbier, the rivets get brighter and shinier, just like here. And just cos you have old jeans, it doesn't mean you can't have new money. I think this is excellent.

Great idea and I happen to like the fact that the jeans are really faded and worn. You might experiment with turning the jeans or camera, so that you end up with the jeans on an angle in the image... IMO, it might add visual interest. Alternatively... do this in B & W. Again, just my opin. I still really like the image. Markjay

Disregard most of the comments below this a great image! Crisp, clean, good colour, good lighting, well balanced (could be a little more off centre) well done good start to the challenge.

The tones feel uncomfortable to me. The jeans are so desaturated - apparently from wear, yet the bill and the rivet are so highly saturated. I'd accept the rivet, but the bill is really bugging me. Maybe because it's also such a crisp new bill, whereas I'd accept a well worn shabby bill in a pocket like this. Ok, while I'm here, being an intolerant bitch, I'll moan about the centered "horizon". Now for some good stuff... when you close one eye, this image has an OUTSTANDING ability to become 3-D, with incredible depth for such a shallow subject. The wow factor on this effect is amazing!!! Only problem being that the only people that will realize this are those that read what I just wrote, or those strange people like me, that for some odd reason, decided to close one eye and look at it! LOL! Focus is excellent and placement of the bill, compositionally speaking, is good. The brightness of the rivet is a bit distracting, but for the most part the eye is kept to the bill. Good concept. ~ Lonnit
