The Duke Invasion *

Nowhere Local

I know I'm just being silly really. I looked up, saw my Duke figure on the shelf and just had to use it. All pics shot this weekend.

Funny, I was sipping fruity drinks on this beach just days ago. The bald guys hadn't hatched then, so I had the place all to myself. Bizarre and evocative. --Mr. Biscuit

This one is just great and as my namesake says - very creepy.

This is taking surreal to the limit. Hard to beat a menacing doll emerging from eggs on a beach. :} ~kt

Bless you for shooting eggs, I thought it was just me. Cool concept and the action figure gives me the creeps (which is a good thing). -Michael

Heh, don't worry about what other people think. Yesterday my daughter and I went to see an Imax 3D movie, but the first show was sold out, so we had a couple of hours to wait for the next show. We walked downtown through the capitol. While in the capitol, I noticed a large portrait of David Crockett. There was a college-aged couple taking photos with it. The girl, whose shoulder was about even with the bottom of the 8-foot high picture, held up a small action figure (of Davie Crockett, I presumed) as high as she could reach it so it'd be in the picture. Her boyfriend took the picture.

I noted how they didn't seem to care what anyone thought about this, and it made me feel good to see that. We wandered around for a while and then left out the front door of the capitol, where the couple were posing again, this time for a perspective shot with the action figure in the foreground, and the capitol in the background. This time, the girl glanced at me and gave a self-conscious smile.

Anyway, the piont is, don't worry about it. Just do what you want regarding these matters. By the way, I think your depth of field was well-chosen. But why is the horizon so orange? -- Victor

Yep its a real beach and I really was lying in the sand taking photos of eggs. Fortunately it being a very grey sunday the beach was practically deserted - I was just lucky enough sun came out to give me a little contrast on the water. Shooting the figures later I took care to place them so the highlights looked right.

Looks like you had some fun on the beach with your action figures and broken eggs :) Did you get any funny looks from passers-by? Cindy

LOL! Cute. I like the interesting colors in the sky and water and how they work well with the eggs. ~ Lonnit

Ah-ha, one of my worst fears come true! An invasion!! How'd you do it? I've analyzed it, but can't see any tell-tale evidence of PS. (Even a little orange reflection on their heads!) Very cute and funny, too! shu
