I went to considerable effort to get the ball moss into the picture. I experimented with various apertures as well, and I liked the one where the ball moss was clearest the best. I thought of posting a picture where the ball moss was clear and the capitol was blurry, but I rejected that one, too. -- Victor

A very nice foggy night shot, Victor! I find the ball moss very distracting and think I would like this better with it cloned out. But then it is part of the environment so maybe you shouldn't. ~Sharon

The ones with leaves are live oaks. The others are pecans. Ball moss (Tillandsia) is growing on the foreground branch. This is a kind of bromeliad (pineapple family) which is not a parasite despite popular belief. If the fog weren't so thick, you'd be able to see the lady just above the red part, holding a golden star. I'll have to look more closely to see if it's she's visible in the 16-bit non-jpeg version. I think so. I remember composing the picture sho she'd be in the space next to the ball moss. -- Victor

I do like this. The bit of red light coming from the top of the dome is a great touch and it compliments the bit of green near the bottom. What kind of trees are those in the foreground? Gotta love the fog :) Jim H.
