After looking at the cropped picture vs this one, I decided I liked this version better too, although I tried to tone down the highlights a little. It was one of those magical snowfalls where everything was coated with light fluffy snow but only for a few hours. Since it had been 8 years since it snowed here, I wanted to capture the look before it all melted :-) CJ

Well, I'm going to disagree with Sharon (and that's what makes the world go 'round). While I agree that it would have been nice to have more detail in the highlights, I think the image needs the snowy field in the foreground (with or without detail) to allow the fence and road to do its visual magic. I really did like the original composition, CJ, and liked the overall mood and feeling of the piece. For me, it's lost something in the cropping. -Michael
This was taken with the kit lens in very poor light and in jpeg. It was pretty cold and I probably was shaking - wish I had an IS lens on for this one :-) CJ
It's very nice and potentially superb but it lacks a certain point of focus and I'm not sure there's alot you can do about that, though with that combination of shutter speed, focal length and F stop it should be sharp as anything. If you shot this RAW, I bet you could go back to it and get some more from it, unless it was so cold that shivering gave you camera shake! Tim
This is a really lovely shot, CJ. Unfortunately, the blown highlights in the foreground are very distracting. If you can't reshoot you could crop a lot of that out as the most important part of the image is the fence and the foreground is not strictly necessary. ~Sharon
