Chris, thanks for the critique. I agree that the shoreline and trees add nothing to the photo. Unfortunately, the boats were too close to the shore for me to blur the background. I would have to go to a different marina to get a better background.
Garret, in this shot I find the boats kind of interesting, but I really like the reflections that are going on in the foreground. To me I find the background (the shoreline and trees) distracting, and feel that they should be out of focus as they really add nothing to the photo. Chris
Garrett - regarding the tilted horizon question on the forum - IMO, you did the right thing by establishing the masts as your vertical. Not sure whether I see any real horizon (vs. tilting terrain) in this photo to boot. Nice shot! -Ed Hahn
