Where The Sea Meets The Land * Traveller

...the rules specifically say, "whatever else that is related to transportation across the water."
This was a chilly, and I thought quite frightening, transportation across water. I'm not the Pilot, just a scared passenger. However, I specifically went out of my way to frame this with the hand and steering bar in the image to give a sense of altitude and perspective. In this sense, the image was successful.

I love terra firma. The more firma, the less terra ;-)
Like Dorys, this is not amongst my top 1000 things to do before I die, so I doubly appreciate that you did it and photographed the view for the rest of us to enjoy. And it's an excellent shot!

Traveller - Thanks for allowing us to see the world through your eyes. I'm pretty sure I will never go parasailing over they ocean, so I appreciate the chance to see some of what you see during your adventures. (Excellent photo, BTW.) - CameraShy09

Hi, Chris, I am having...if not exactly fun...then at least an interesting life. I do have a private place where I post much longer stories and photo essays. However, since it is private, members only, and since I have a duty to other members....that will stay private.
However, I am chaifing a little under the self-imposed restrictions, created at least in part by myself. Really, when I write big, (at least 500 words or more), I write like an angel and it is a fun read with the images attached.
I really must find a way to put together a proper web-site and create an internet presence for myself. Unfortunantly, I do have a, "Real," life that keeps me pretty busy....but I really need to get this done...Soon.
Thanks for the thoughts, Traveller

Traveller, first off, I love the bits of stories that we hear from you, it sounds like you have a fun and exciting life. If you have an internet blog or something let me know, so I can keep updated on your adventures.

When I have looked at this photo I thought that it was cool in the sense that you know how it was shot, or what you were doing, for that I think that the hand and bar are essential for this image. I am also sure that taking any picture would be difficult while doing this.

Having said all of that I think that the image would be greatly improved if you had framed it with the tip of the shoreline in the much closer to the right edge. Right now the image has 3/4 of it split into cool triangle, then that patterning gets lost in the right upper quarter of the image. It is a neat shot, just a suggestion of how I think it could be improved. Chris

Traveller, you are to traveling as I am to the couch! Nice shot. Do the guides get mad when first timers pee their pants? Chris

Nor is it really mine, either. I was more or less trapped into doing this. A legend in the the travel world, (or at least mine), was flying in to San Diego for the Monday Night Football game and called, asking if he came in early would I be available to hang with him a little?

Would I? Andy is like magic...he's been kidnapped in Colombia, avoided being sold to the FARC, and eventually was able to make a jungle escape. He had bad immigration trouble while in Thailand and outwitted mountain bandits in Northern India...Like I say, Andy is magic and he wanted to see me. It went something like this....

Around 9:30, a group consisting of myself, Andy, and two addtional friends, just back from Tibet and Western China, had gathed for introductions in San Diego.

Andy suggested we all head out to Ensenada in that I and Rick had never been there. Here's how it is with Andy...we are in his brand new, rented SUV, we're heading to the border to buy Mexican car insurance...but he left the rental contract and other papers back at his hotel. I say turn arround, it's only a mile or less back, let's go get the car paperwork.

Andy says, We'll be fine...don't worry all the time Traveller! Omnis and Rick laugh and I point out that this is why he is a legend and I am not.

In any case, it's just four very interesting guys, and Omnis and Rick were each great in their own unique ways...telling stories, laughing, eating beef jerky and Doritos as we illegally head down the Mexican highway into Baja.

About half way, but quite at random, I ask to pull off the highway to take some pictures. Entirely by Serendipitous luck I say go a little further and Andy winds down some narrow streets and we end up...where they are renting horses on the beach and some guys have these fabulous Ult-Lite planes.

Andy: Let's do it, and he smiles that winning smile of his.

Traveller: Are you crazy? Put me up there in one of those things?!?!?

Andy & Omnis gave me that...head down, but still looking at you kind of stare...that says, you just went down the Amazon by yourself, by your lonesome...so who are you trying to kid?

But I was terrified. I hate heights...I am certified to jump out of airplanes having done my jump school at Ft. Benning...but I've never been happy leaving for the cruelty of gravity, a perfectly fine airplane.

So I did it...on a dare.

Later, we rented our own boat for a tour of Ensenada it's harbor, the half sunk boats, the sea lions, ect

It was a time...lol. But now I am back at work.

Best wishes,

Traveller

Well... I see the relevance to the topic. You are over water and if you crashed then you'd need the Coast Guard to come rescue you. :-)

It's a very well composed image and your perspective and sense of height are right no. My palms are sweating just looking at this. This type of flying (or bunging jumping or skydiving) are not in my top 1000 things I need to do before I die.
