Grant
I did another version especially for you. I hope you like it (but don't spend too much time looking...)

I really like this shot, also. I think this works for me because of the lighting, so many reflections and points of light and shadow. - CameraShy09

I totally agree with Grants examples and also that a pattern broken is much more interesting. However, there's a certain something about this image that makes me like it, although logically I don't think I should. The shallow DOF makes me see that there is another side to this. I sense that it is round and the light is so pretty, and I am easily distracted by shiney objects! LOL! I am wanting to part these beads and enter the middle and spin around and look at all the pretty, shiney beads! It draws me in - I just really want to to inside it. If an image makes someone want to climb into it, it's got to have something pretty special going on! I want to say, "So... eh." but its just mesmerizing and tyring to lure me in. Very strange thing!! Very excellent thing! ~ Lonnit

Phil,

This is almost the exact opposite of what I have been working on lately. I have been trying to take a pictutre of almost nothing where something is happening. This looks like a picture of lots of things where nothing is happening. I appreciate the shallow DOF to isolate a few of the beads but I know that they are the same as the ones behind. I do like pattern shots like this but I think they are most interesting when you do something to break the pattern.

For example, I find this kind of boring:http://www.flickr.com/photos/fionab/30013774/
This, though, is much more interesteing:http://www.flickr.com/photos/pdxdj/25651700/
