This is how I would've shot the image originally, with the camera mounted so show my own point of view, and enabling a view of the vanishing point.

My intent wasn't to make you feel like you made me feel that I need to reshoot ;) I want to perfect it as it's probably an image I'll use myself in various places, and it won't be too much effort to do.

My intent wasn't to make you feel like you need to reshoot, I really enjoy this shot as it is, I just wanted to mention some things that I thought you might want to think about. I think that it is hard when you are out on location to 'see' all of those things, I have thought about bringing my laptop, although it isn't always practicle, I need something more compact to view images. Thanks for the tip. I'll try to get out and reshoot it this week taking that into account. Because of the awkwardness of the camera location, I might take my laptop this time and view each photo on the fly. It's hard to notice some of the things you mentioned with the small camera view screen.

Great shot, and I like how you are taking the original and making it your own. There are a couple of things that I might do to improve this shot (IMHO), 1) is your head can be seen in the rearview mirror, I would make it so you can't see your head, as it helps the viewer figure out the cheat to make the picutre. Also, it puts someone else driving the car, as opposed to what you have done with putting the viewer in the driver's seat, the head in the rear view, defeats that illusion. 2) as long as we are taking about the rearview mirror, it would be really cool to be able to see the road behind you, much in the way you see it in front of you, just would add more demension to the image. 3) I would clean the bug splats off of the windshield (windscreen). 4) I am not sure about the bit of side mirror cutting into the image, I would either crop it out, or include it more, and have it trained on something interesting, like I suggested for the rearview mirror. Like I said, it is a great shot, I am only suggesting what I think would take the image to the next level. This was very well done, and I appreciate all the work that you did in the series. Chris

It certainly helped having the rollcage, I'm not sure what your setup was on the BMW. I got a clamp that had a double ball joint second hand about a week ago, so this was the first chance I had to do this. The real trick of course was to mount the camera where my head should be, then drive while leaning over the centre console.

Yep, improves on my original and I like this the best of the three. Is this a benefit of having the roll bars to fix the camera to or was there some other trick I missed?

This really creative and nicely done. In the first image of this series, you can clearly see the attached camera in the rear view door mirror. Excellent. Traveller
