Thanks folks! I've been walking on air a bit for the last few days with the plentiful comments. After a couple challenges where my stuff was mediocre at best, it does feel like I found a place with this topic. Here's to hoping I am comfortable with the next one. ;)

Love the image, Mikel. The composition and lighting is wonderful. The textural elements also work me but I think I'd also enjoy it without. -Michael

Mike, this is a fine photo! And the original is a really nice photo in its own right. They both share the same masterful posing and lighting. Regarding the effect, I am going to contradict Lonnit: I think it is OK on the skin, but do not like it on the background. The texture on the skin makes your model look sort of like a stone sculpture, which I find slightly intriguing, but I would like to see it in contrast to a smoooooth backdrop. I'd say that you've really blossomed in this challenge and I believe both the remodeling of the Bellly Dancer and this one are the best images I've seen from you yet. Great work - keep it up! --Olaf.dk

I really like the image, but I don't care for the effect on the skin at all. The hair and background are fine, but not the skin. Sorry. ~ Lonnit

When I saw the thumbnail I knew it was outstanding! The lighting is wonderful... then it opened up to full size....the PS effect does not work for me. Sorry to be critical, it's just my opinion.

I think the original composition is quite good as it is. This also is interesting with more of an artistic flare to it.

As for the effect: I created a duplicate layer, and diid some blurring to get rid of some of the noise. Then did a Smart Blur, with settings of High and Edges Only, and tweaked the sliders until I liked what I got. II then blended the two layers, I think with Overlay, and an opacity around 50ish.

Certainly interesting. My first reaction was very positive. After studying for a while part of me wants to see her without the effect on though. However, the composition of the piece is good and the way you've used the shadow and light (and PS no doubt) to fulfil the challenge criteria is commendable. I like it a lot.

Very nice Mikel. Great lighting. What filter did you use to give her skin such a painterly effect? - Kelly

I Haven't a clue what this is about or how you accomplished this...I like it. I always knew that you'd come through with a good entry. Best Wishes, Traveller
