Almost Dali like. Looks more like surrealistic painting than a photo. Great.

Thank you Shu! I guess I tend to view photography as just another artistic tool. Sure, it can stand on its own; but I also see value in using it as just one step in the process. ('Course, I'm not talking about journalistic photography here.) I think digital art is great fun :). --Melanie (mlynn)

....and BTW, I like the way were're finally bringing more PS into our work! This really opens the door to all kinds of creative images. Thanks, Melanie! shu

Intriguing image! I'm not familiar with the nuts and bolts of PS to achieve it, but I like the color, composition and how much it shows your artistic ability. Very nice! shu

Heh heh, thanks Kelly. Actually my original idea was something like what you described. I wanted the image frame to mimic the mirror frame. But at the time I was just not ready to figure it out, and instead put a hasty gold gradient frame in instead. I'll have to think on it some more :). --Melanie (mlynn)

Hi mlynn - I think no frame is better than the one you initially had. But if you were to have a frame, it might be interesting to duplicate the layer with the hand mirror, scale it up large enough to encompass your exceptional image and place the image inside the larger frame cloning/clipping as needed. Since it's a curved frame you'll have to be creative as to what fills that space. - Just a thought in case you still feel like toying around with it - I'm still loving it the way it is. - Kelly

Very, very interesting. Well done! Lose that frame though!

Wow, thank you all for the nice comments. And Traveller, thank you for the very kind compliment. As far as how I did this: it's just layers. I took several disappointing, crappy, poorly lit photos earlier today, this being one of them. It just wasn't quite what I wanted. I was going to just discard them; but instead I pulled up an older photo of some water in Yellowstone, and layered it on the mirror and then the rest of the photo (and masked out parts of it).

Grant, I'm not too sure about the frame either; I'll probably redo that tomorrow.

This is really creative. I like the colors and composition. The frame is a little distracting though (for my tastes). Well done.

I once wrote here that you are who I'd like to be, creativity-wise...and this image is why I feel this way. Just wonderful...Do you feel like talking about how you did this?
I always like to learn from the best. Traveller
