Red On Blue * Traveller

I actually liked the title Red, White and Blue, but what the heck, we've got to make decisions. But a curious factor I found in shooting in the Pacific Northwest was the predominance of Blue...everywhere, the color simply seemed to me to infect all bright light. I've never shot up in Canada or the Northwest for that matter, and I found this problem to be interesting in that it should affect other photographers as well. In any case, here I just decided to go with the problem and use it to the image's benefit.

This is Mount Baker shot from The Straight of Georgia, with a cargo ship heading up to Vancouver.

Dynamite shot and colors, Traveller. In fact, I believe you have acheived a modernist Ukiyo-e visage of the Mount. -Michael

Dear Alex, I don't see the Cyan...this is Blue, blue, Blue! If there is any cast, it is that this is far too blue....and yet, blue is the point of the picture...so I've got to leave it as is.

I'd half way like to play with this some more, but you know, sometimes it is just better to leave things be...a green line of shoreline might be nice...but also maybe not since the title is, "Red on Blue,". It is difficult to leave alone an image you like, but often this is wisdom....imho Best Wishes, Traveller

Great seascape, this one. I see a cyan cast though, or is it my monitor?

Thanks Vikas and AAM1234, I was trying for a Mount Fuji effect....we have all seen the image of Mount Fuji from across the sea of Japan that it had become part of our public consciousness. I wanted to do the same for Mount Baker in Northern Washington, even thought I was shooting from Canada.

It should of course be understood that I have pictures of Mount Baker from this journey with just sail boats, with nothing in the foreground, and still others, with manipulation of photoshop, that I was actually able to pull out the green border of shoreline in the foreground.

I probably have 40 Mount Baker images shot from the mainland highway, from the middle of the Straights of Georgia, from Vancouver Island, and this is not to say those images are bad, but this is the one that I think catches the imagination. Best Wishes, Traveller

Lovely shot Traveller, the blue and red work so wonderfully together. Cheers, Vikas
