Springtime Memories *

These seed pods are left over from last year. Already this spring, these plants are blooming with purple flowers and have new green pods appearing. The fly just happened to be there when I was shooting the old dry pods.

I too like the overlapping ovals created by these seed pods. Nice attention given to the background that really sets off the subject. Pretty irridescent costume on your fly model :-) Michael

Fly notwithstanding ;-), this piece reminds me of some pieces I used to make out of vines-- open airy pieces, not quite woven and not quite baskets. I'd dip these shapes into a vat of pulp, which would adhere to the structure. What you have here is Nature's own handwoven paper almost-basket. --Nancy/odigi

Beautiful. Love those sinuous lines and the colorful fly. --Melanie (mlynn)

What had caught my eye here was the pattern of the numerous oval seed pods. Some completely weathered to the point that there was nothing but the "rim" and others in various states of decay. The fly just happened to show up. I'm not sure I like the ones with the fly as well as those without, but I liked the color that the fly brought to the scene.

I am *loving* this lens. I've kept it on the camera almost all of the time since getting it about three weeks ago. It's been really fun. I always loved macro and having macro with the 20D is just a great combination. This challenge theme came along at exactly the right time for me. It looks like many people have found macro to be a good approach to patterns in nature!

Quite an interesting shot. Nice of the fly to pose for you. So, how do you like that lens? Cindy
