6th Place: PWL

This will probably get pulled down,
but I was so excited about Grant's theme choice
I had light painting ideas fly into my head all morning.

This was one of them, although it didn't
quite turn out how I'd imagined it.
I'll no doubt try again a little later today.

Photo taken in a dark room.
Small Mag-Lite flashlight used and snooted with my hand.
Moved it around slowly on the violin, then on the sheet music.

While I like this one, I thought the mono version was better. **

Well done. I like them both, but I like the color version better. The color adds a lot of dimension.

Fantastic. Great play of shadows and DOF. This image can very well illustrate the life of some famous composer or some piece of music. What kind of music is it BTW? You play this instrument, right?

Angela--For me, this mono version of your violin shows a lot of drama, whereas the image in color has sparkle which, IMO, makes it more exciting. I'm sure we all have shomewhat predictable critiques due to our photographic style. The bottom line is that it is a winning image. Shu

The mono version looks much better for me also, now that I have seen both, it is more mysterious. I did not expect such a clear difference. Thanks for showing the other alternative. Gerald

Angela, this is a great picture/composition. I am pretty new to photography (besides taking snapshots) and to these challenges. I didn't know what a 'painting with light' till today, and even if I had come across the phrase, I would have found it very intimidating/abstract/over-the-top. Your sharing of this method is great (you have explained it in simple terms), an eye-opener for me and very inspirational. Thank you - RK

Beautifully painted with light, the pattern of light and shadows gives a mystic touch. This technique lends itself perfectly to the theme. I am trying to imagine this composition in color. Gerald

Beautiful image, signature AJ touch, works well in B&W. Took me a minute to decipher the title, but then again, the image says enough.

Angela, this is a lovely image. You have been very careful with the shadows and although they are all over the place as one would expect with this technique, it doesn't detract from the over all feel. If this is what you come up with on the first day, then i'll certainly be loking forward to more from you. Andy
