Wait, wait, wait! This isn't a picture of a woman is it? Is that my fundemental error? Is that what I am not seeing?

Curious and curious`er

I guess I see it too, if you squit and cock one eye, but it could equally be a face with heavy shadows.

But coming back to the title, I suppose I also got that, or certainly the words being placed in the order that they were placed ='ed the Zemeckis movie with Goldie Hawn, Meryl and Bruce Willis....but that was a rolicking comedy...a black comedy with lots of physical stunts....and I didn't see any connection at all to the somber, noble (?), silk clad, Asian (?) warlord represented here. Yes there was a skull I believe released by Isabella Rossellini representing the poison...but was it silk clad?
Nah.

Then I thought that maybe it was a Kurosawa reference and all the Red's in his 1985 Classic, "Ran." Being out of movie references, I suppose that I could fall back on Grant's general idea of Sacrifice, which you seem to support.

As a general proposition, the Artist is always right, it is after all his conception and execution. But I would prefer...death becomes Him...as in the sense that, for honor lost, honor would be regained by a ritualistic Hari-Kari of himself.

Or do I just read too much into titles, and bring too much movie history and wordsmithery to the table? It is a wonderful photograph., maybe that's all that matters.

You still got my vote....lol

Best wishes,

Traveller

I see it, iso. This one really grabs me and hangs on.

Just a comment on the title (which is a film reference) Doesn't anyone see the head as more of a skull than a face? Grant got the ritualistic thing though.

Masterful use of light. For some reason, it doesn't strike the chord in me that your images normally hit, but strong kudos for the orginality and craftsmanship.

Dear ISO:

I'm big on Titles, I think that they are important to give viewers guidence...on where the Artist is trying to take them...but I just don't get this title. (Of course, as is your right, maybe you are trying to be obscure).

This is a wonderfully executed photograph.

But what does it mean?

This reminds me of the ritualistic sacrifices that we used to do when I was an ancient Mayan...
