Lonnit, with that commentary, this image is now priceless.

Andy, I know what you mean about the light. You are wanting to believe the scene is lit by only the room lamp b/c that would be what you'd expect to see if you entered the room. When I shot like that it left the bra dark, flat, and featureless. Therefore, I had to move the shot to the tawdry part of town, accross the tracks, to their little lovenest his wife knows nothing about. It's a tiny little room in a dilapidated old hotel. Just outside the window is a flashing "Vacancy" sign. I had to time it precisely to shoot each time the flashing sign lit. Hence, the unusual and garish secondary light. Feel more comfortable about it now? :) ~ Lonnit

Angela, that would be the most wonderful madness!

Please read my comment in one nightstand as i wrote it before this.

Lovely mood and this one the red dominates. I am finding a rather odd question in my brain about lighting which concerns the shadow on the lampshade. Now you've got that flashlight of yours pointing at the bra haven't you. For me this is a great shot but that little detail just gives it a slightly uneasy feeling. Although we expect great photographs to be lit from all angles to create the mood, I don't think we want the lighting to be over evident or distracting. In the body shot you ot it spot on with a single light source. This is a tougher shot though. I don't know really what i'm talking about but just my opinion.

We should definitely get together for a shoot someday! Can you imagine the colorful words and airborne objects?

Madness!!

Like anyone could leave a shot of yours in the dust. That stupid ornament is so danged perfect - right down to the window reflection. ARRGHHHHHHHH!

With me it's all about a lot of very careful and specific swearing and sometimes a lot of flinging! LOL! ~ Lonnit

Jealous of that ornament? Goodness Lonnit, you've all but left that thing in the dust!

Oh, and about flinging -- you're SO RIGHT! I've never been able to just casually "throw" something for a photo together and have it look perfect either! It's all been a lot of very careful and specific arranging, and sometimes a lot of swearing. LOL.

You made my day woman! Your comments were a real pick-me-up after being so jealous of your shots. The broken ornament went thru my gut like a knife.

BTW, man is it tough to fling things askew so they look good flung askew! LOL! You just can't fling 'em. You've got to carefully place them so they look flung. Flinging them just makes an unappealing mess. Apparently, except for candid shots, photography is pure bullsh*t! LOL! ;)

Ooooh Lonnit got BUSY! ;)

In all seriousness, Girl, you're on fire! The self portrait was smokin, but this one is sensational. It's the story, I also think, that really strengthens this one, though, without your SP in the red bra, the story here *might* not be as strong.

Anyway, said bra thrown in passion to the lamp, shade knocked askew, panties flung amok on the table...

Wow, is it hot in here???

Thanks for the comments. As they say, it's the unseen that really lets the imagination run wild. People recall the shower scene from Psycho as one of the most terrifying, however, it all happens in one's imagination. I agree with you that this is more of a story-telling shot. I'm glad you appreciate the just-visible panties. That was an important aspect of the shot.

Dearest Lonnit:

I actually like this one better and fine it more evocative than the "flashlight lit," body shot, though it is that image that you have received the deserved kudos for.

Maybe it's a matter of taste, but this is discrete...yet full of meaning. I especially like the almost unseen panties on the edge of the table.

This is a great picture, (to me).

Best Wishes,

Traveller
