Contrasts*

Sand Mountain Nevada

Experimented a little here

Took a high contrast B&W version of this shot, then
layered the original color shot on top using a
soft light blending mode at somewhere around 50%

I debated about cropping off the desert floor at the
bottom . . .but decided it looked unresolved without it.
Opinions?

Canon EOS 20D ,Canon 70-200 2.8 IS
1/160s f/13.0 at 200.0mm iso100 full exif

Very 'off-world' looking. I think yes, keep the desert floor.

Who needs Mt. Shasta? Very nice. Very surreal.

Very impressive. The small details of the foreground provide the necessary perspective

Without the desert floor, there would be no sense of scale. Cropping it out would be detrimental!
