Agree with John. Just slide the image up on your monitor so it crops just above the eyebrows and your eyes zero in on his eyes. As it is now, the viewer's eyes wander around the image a little. cool shot. Cindy

This is an intriguing image. However, The emotion is all from the eyebrows down, and for me the forehead is a distraction. I would have tried cropping 25% more off the top and brightened the rest a little.

Thanks guys, I tried a tighter crop and I think it looks better. Still, I'm kinda at sea here; people are not my thing. But it's all for learning right?

To Grant: What are you a dermatologist?

The facial expression emotion is hard to fiqure. Which goes with the composition. I think it conveys a sense of entrapment. Just my interpretation. Very sharp photo, I have L envy.

Skin cancers? He has a little dysmorphism around his eyes that seem to be due to webbing and contracture of scars. That and a lot of actinic damage and stellate scars on his nose and forehead. Just curious.

Photographically, I would have preferred either a tighter crop or a wider one. The edges of his face do not interact with the border of the frame well, in my opinion. Also, did you consider punching up the contrast a little on your B&W conversion? You have a very interesting subject who reveals more details (the eye changes) upon closer inspection. Nice portrait overall, Just thought I'd throw my 2¢ in for the *.

Ooohh...blank emotion....sometimes the toughest emotional expression there is...This one makes me a shiver a little...I like how the close crop accentuates the blankness of his stare....you worry because you don't know what he thinks of you...

Nice capture, and good photo...the emotion brings this picture to life.
