Sundial Bridge, Redding California

Wow! Got to borrow my first true wide angle lens. A Tamron 14 mm. Oh what fun.

This is an updated image based on comments . . . any better?

Clearly the stronger of your two sundial bridge shots in this challenge. The wide angle perspective, leading lines, colors, slightly odd singular main subject, and of course, that fantastic sky! --Olaf.dk

I just love the lines and the sky in this image Cindy - sooo dramatic! I actually like the color of the bridge tiles as well... they remind me of swimming pools, and it's almost as if the cyclist is cycling on water. Great shot!
Tracy!

Cindy. The channel mixer bit isn't too important, it just boosts the colour saturation a touch (which there are probably other ways of doing). Phil

Maybe this will help with the color - follow the link to a pic of this bridge at night. The deck is made out of blue/green glass and is underlit. Originally I understand it was clear glass, but people were getting dizzy and bumping into each other . . . and women in skirts were being 'observed' from below. lol.

Phil thanks for the info you sent! I have Elements 3 and no channel mixer! Cindy

Wonderful composition, with dramatic lines. The wide angle works really well here. That shade of blue on the bridge is rather bizarre.

isn't wide angle grand? love the sweeping lines drawing me in here....

Cindy - I've sent a message to your pbase mailbox. Phil

You could try a No. 80 cooling filter set at 25% then a duplicate layer with the blending option set at overlay and around 15% and then just tweak your hue/saturation.

OK, thanks Olaf - yes Phil did clear up the mud on this. I suppose it is worth taking another crack at it - between dealing with the haze and doing this very late after my house guests had retired I could have done a better job. I will give it a shot later tonight after the birthday party ;) haha. And Phil, if you have any hints for me don't keep it a secret! Cindy

Cindy, I couldn't either, but then I clicked on "view this image" on the error page and I got this:http://www.pbase.com/image/38743647 --Olaf.dk

Hey Phil, thanks for the help but I can't get to it with that link! Cindy

Very striking, but I agree it needs a little tweak for extra punch.
I ran it through my usual workflow - and I think it's better (others might not agree) but feel free to look and comment:http://www.pbase.com/update_image/38743647

Hi ISO, it was shooting into the sun and it was a little on the dark side already so yes a little tricky. But I think the real problem was most of the shots I took with this borrowed lens had a hazy look to them. Upon closer examination I discovered something on the inside of the lens - looked like white fuz and I think that may have caused the hazy look and made it more difficult when it came to contrasting and saturation. Thanks for the comments, Cindy

Some really weird colours going on here. I keep coming back to this image. The perspective really makes it and I love ultra wide angle shots myself. A tricky exposure situation by the looks of it. The bulk of it just seems flat and low contrast but somehow it still works.

Great wide angle shot and appropriate dramatic sky which fits very well the title
