Toward Lake Whatcom

Actually this was from my deck but close enough. This is the view I see every day. Sometimes I don't see much of it because the fog is thick (like it was this morning) or it is raining (as it often does here in the Northwest). Right now it is a fall view with bright colored leaves and pink sunrises. Every day it changes.

Beautiful. As I was scrolling down to read the comments, I couldn't help but jumping back to view the picture again and again and again. AussieDawg

Lonnit - Check out Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz NY. I think you'll love it. It's just an hour and a half north of you on the Hudson River. Check out my pbase galler (ptkitty) and you'll see what I mean. :) BTW, my son lives in Queens. :) Ann

Could you BE any farther away? LOL! A tad far from NYC! LOL! I really am so totally jealous - it's a photog's paradise there. I'm glad you're not wasting the scenary as you've got the talent to capture it. Your shots are always so 'travel' looking. Yes, Long Island has some really pretty places too, but I'm soooo aching to find a freaking waterfall! I've got to get off this glacial deposit and onto some bedrock to find that. I need to get hubby to take the family and I to Yonkers or Jersey. I don't think he'd be willing to let me drag everyone across the entire country - well especially if we get that far, b/c I'll be pushing them all the way to Alaska too! LOL! ~ Lonnit

Lonnit, you totally crack me up. Did I say totally? yes, totally. Love your response to where I live. And yes it is one of the beauty spots on this earth, named in far too many "100 best places to..." -- no no, nobody else gets to move here. (except Lonnit and all the other cool photographers here) but I digress. This is Bellingham, WA, secret spot of incredible beauty. Yes, it does rain here, and fog here, and be gray here, and dark here in winter... but never mind. It is a drop-dead beautiful spot to live. It's right near the Canadian border, one hour to Vancouver B.C., 1.5 hours to Seattle, 1 hour to Mt Baker, 1.5 hours to the San Juan Islands. Do you get the feeling that I like it here....? Well, yes I do. Also has four (count them 4) colleges (WWU, Whatcom CC, Bellingham Technical College and NW Indian College) and an amazing music and arts scene. But I fear I'm getting too verbose here. :) Come on by Lonnit (and other photo friends). We love guests. Ann

Holy dirt woman! You live in a freaking jigsaw puzzle!!!!!!! No wonder you take so many beautiful shots - you live your life on a backdrop! Wherever it is, I'm moving there!!!! Give me weekend there and I could fill a thousand flash cards! Please tell me where you live!!! I'm just green (and gold and orange and red...) with envy!! ~ Lonnit (geez, did I mention it's pretty there? LOL!)

What a beautiful scenery, an everyday sight for you but for others like a storybook landscape. Interesting layering with autumn colors in the foreground and the misty background like winter approaching.

Beautiful image Ann. I feel like I could sit there with you and have a cup of coffee while talking about the weather.
