Nassau County Fair, Uniondale, Long Island, NY

8.5 years of non-stop breastfeeding makes this picture very special to me. There is no joy in life greater than that special time with nurslings. The only thing more incredible than giving birth to a child is putting that child to your breast and watching it grow, day after day, with you being its sole source of nourishment. And incredible as that is, now imagine doing it with a child on each breast! At one point there were even two babies and a toddler all taking turns!

LOL! Lactomania is a new one on me! I generally refer to myself as a lactovist! :) ~ Lonnit

Sorry, Lonnit, I thought you were the queen of the TLA's! (That's Three Letter Abbreviations in case you missed that one too!) I've been on the receiving end of your lactomania before, so it made me smile to read this one... Phil

Shu, I think you actaully saw the other one I'd posted in another challenge, taken from the other side, where the calf is actually nursing and the udders are draped over his snout. Well, unless you saw it in my gallery. I figured I'd post this one to avoid redundancy, since my dining room shot has found its way into so many challenges! LOL! ;)

You're totally right of course, Olaf. Unfortunately the county fair is held in the middle of the parking lot of a sports/concert arena. 5.6 was as far open as I could get it, and being fenced in I couldn't get closer. So, this is the best I could do. It isn't perfect but it sure wasn't worth trashing the shot for the background; my timing made the shot. :)

What is "TMI" Phil? It's a new one on me!

Thanks for commenting all. :) ~ Lonnit

I think this is a fantastic photograph! Talk about capturing the moment and it definitely tells a universal story. A more natural background would have been nice, or perhaps more selective focus to blur the background... --Olaf
