I just heard the perfect soundtrack for this image: Spitfire with The Prodigy... /Jonas

Great job, outstanding imagery. Framing effect works well too. Well done.

I like this one better without the distracting mask. Kind of reminds me of Dr Hannibal Lecter. (what was it he used to say... fffffffffthp [or something like that]) -Byron

Hey Grant, could you put the date on this one? Thanks.
Guest 01-Nov-2004 02:02
Hmmm, this one's closer, but for me, I stil like the first one better. The face mask is a little more visible and it's more obvious that you're a doctor (albeit an evil one, muwahahah.) Whereas here, it's more in the shadows and not as easily seen, therefore not telling the whole story as well. Just my .02 :)

alright...attempt number three. still like the original better? i like the teeth in this one but i preserved the lighting from the first one. watchu think?
Guest 31-Oct-2004 23:18
I too, like the original one better. The lighting and expression had much more of an edge and were far scarier than this one. I was wondering if the tape hurt. Is it under your eyelids? OW!
Guest 31-Oct-2004 16:30
well, here is the original

i agree about the lighting joe. but, i still think this one is creepier. it looks like i was interrupted doing something sinister in the dark which will probably be something to regret. the lighting and contrast are not "correct" but i think they are appropriate to the subject matter. we'll see. i may have desensitized myself to the other one and this just seems better because it is new. i'll give it a day or so to "age"

In honesty, Moose, I liked the other one better. The framing on this is more "proper", but I think it loses bite. Also seems less contrasty; the eyes (the epicenter of the shot) don't pop like they do in the other. Net: This one has less intensity, to my eyes. I'd switch it back, post the second (end of the line, mind you), then let folks offer their comparisons. Perhaps cross-link them in the description (to facilitate comparison), and maybe indicate why you think this one is better. My two pennies.

swapped it out for one that seemed slightly creepier. BTW, that tape hurts like a mofo when it comes off...

Absolutely excellent!

Oh Wow! this is the most scariest photo I've seen in a very long time. Simply amazing. - Techo.

A fabulous return Mr Moose. I think you're going to do well with this one......
Guest 30-Oct-2004 21:08
This is great! The toning, framing, graniness... everything works.
Guest 30-Oct-2004 17:12
Ehh, I feel fine now, don't need no doctor... Nice work, very moody "grittyness" and great expression. The thumbnail looked almost like a illustration! /Jonas
Guest 30-Oct-2004 17:03
thanks for the compliments guys. especially from people whose work i admire very much. i wanted to do something kind of disturbing but with an "everyday" kind of prop. a 79¢ roll of paper tape and my wife won't even look at this image...

The Moose is loose. This is fantastic. Off-kilter framing and upward gaze give it a strong sense of action/impending doom. Heavier than norm Photoshop edits, but it all works very well. I was expecting something along these lines, and you delivered in spades. Exceptional.

Grant you've got a masterpiece here. Great lighting! The props are excellent. The expression.... I would be scared out of my mind if a doctor walked into an exam room to treat me looking like this.

I really like this one - great job! The position within the frame, as well as the edge work is fantastic! Great image! - Ralph
