5th Place
Primary, Graphic, Abstract
by Angela Johnson

Since I've exhausted my supply of indoor
shooting material, I decided to venture out
today in search of something interesting.

I found it on a quiet back country road.
This is a red barn, a blue garage,
green grass, and a yellow field that
caught my eye as I drove past.

I shot it with a few different compositions
but I really liked this graphic abstract best.

PS was a curves adjustment to bring out
a higher contrast and framing.

The thumbnail reminds me of Mark Rothko (one of my favorite artists). -Ed Hahn

I was just going to say this looks like a flag, like I just did on the next picture, but I see someone already did, so I won't. Wait a minute, I just did! Two in a row looking like flags makes me wonder how good of a litmus test this might be to test the graphic nature of a picture. -- Victor

Looks more like the flag of Luxembourg to me (that or Yugoslavia upside down). Red, white and blue are the colours of many country's flags. Perhaps there is something pychologically pleasing about this combination? Anyway, that's all rather off topic. What is more relevent is what a fabulous image this is. - Jon S

Wonderful image once again... but I must say you are quite patriotic as of late. This is the second "red, white and blue" image you have posted in this challenge. -Byron

Great colours, you don't see that on barns that much now a days. At least not around these parts. =Paul

I went back and looked at some of the other photos I shot of that barn, and the red wood siding DOES split and end right where the white roof of the blue garage is, which you can see * here *. Funny how that lined up so well!

What had me fooled was that the red cladding seems to end right above the white band!?! --Olaf

You're 2nd guess is right -- it's a garage in front of a barn. I shot it at 200mm so the perspective is pretty squashed -- which is what I was looking for. :)

Glad you ventured outside - this is great! Good eye seeing this while driving! Am I correct in assuming the blue is a garage door and the garage is actually _in_ the barn? The red cladding and the white band seem to be in the same plane, but I guess it could be a garage _in front of_ a barn? --Olaf
