Jacob's Ladder *

Image a standard sandwich in so far that a sharp and unfocused image of the subject were combined. The color map of the out-of-focus image was pushed hard toward the blue and the blurred was favored in the mix of layers to preserve the dominance of the overall zigzag. The name refers to the electrical device that the graphics resembles.

Thanks Gary. I think most folks feel PS as a contaminant and dream of days gone by of film based photography as if the darkroom was but an automated transformer of the negative to a print. The funny thing is that the very few photographers of old that held that view are invariably considered lousy printers (e.g Cartier Bresson). Personally, I too love PS. I felt very limited when I was printing from negs. Sandwiches can be done with film, of course, but not with the same level of control nor with the same latitude of effect.
