Walking the Interiors*
by Vikas
10th Place

Took this shot at the Qutab Minar Complex which houses the worlds tallest minaret. This was one of the interior passages and these two women in bright sarees just happened to be passing through (actually was following them around the complex, lurking in the shadows and peeping surruptitiously through the pillars for the best vantage point) till I finally managed to get this shot. Purposely kept it extremely high key (over exposed by few steps) to focus attention on the interiors and of course, on the two women. Cheers.

Thanks for your comment Anders. About a different treatment, unfortunately have only this high key shot of these women, but don't know why, this one appeals to me somehow. Can't really put my finger to it though. :-)

Cheers. Vikas.

Thanks Joe, you are correct the light region on top was distracting, I should have cropped it out. Have done so now and feel that this maybe better as in the white region is less distracting and attention now goes to the colourful women. Let me know what you think.

I had the same initial reaction, I don't mind the high key, but as the pillars also look almost blown out my initial impression was that the image looks generally overexposed. It's a really nice image though, I'd like to see it with a different treatment.

I have to admit that I'm not sure about the high-key treatment on this one. Instead of framing the image, the light region at the top seems to draw my eye. Perhaps a few more viewings will change my mind. I absolutely love the colours of the sarees though, they really tranform the image.

Nice architecture too. I wish we had some decent buildings here in Orange County, California. - Jon Stern
