Anna--What's "Noise Ninja?" Is it something I should think about getting? (In order to get outstanding images like the ones you've been posting!!!" LOL Shu

Used some Noise Ninja, Jeff. Should have changed the iso to 800 or even 400 for the window shot but the rest of the room was really dark and of course I didn't have the presence of mind. Thx for the comment. Thx Fred too.

Very nice image. How did you deal with the noise considering the iso1600?

Hi everyone and thanks for the comments. Olaf, alas, I didn't crop much in this picture, just some off the top. Yes that 1/2 bottle isn't so great, but if I aimed more to the left then the bright daylight outside would have distracted from the Reader. I was/am practising Phil Douglis' lesson of "watching the edges", am trying not to crop at all.
Cheers/Anna

Outstanding image!! Anna, you sure work magic with that 10D (and those lenses). Shu

While I agree with the comments below, I think it could have been even better had you positioned yourself a little further to the left. No wait, I take that back, as then the bottle would interfere with the main subject, hmm... Well, then maybe, if this is a crop, I would like a little more room on the (viewer's) left and a little less on the right. The bottle being cut off by the left edge bothers me a little bit. Of course I don't know what other (maybe distracting) elements are outside the frame to the left... Take it for what it is - just me thinking out loud! --Olaf

Wonderful shot, Anna!
Quite reminiscent of the Dutch Masters, the lighting is exquisite!

Beautiful shot, and very nice calm mood.
A bit like an old painting.
