I did lol when I saw this take on the topic. I enjoyed the concept...now to improve the image. I like Lonnit's suggestions. To add, possibly use pants that have a more interesting fabric/texture. Experiment with lighting. Include part of an arm/hand. Reveal a tiny bit of plaid boxers showing at the waist. Use an interesting contrasting color between the pants and the shirt. Please keep the image in the galleries. It's fun and it encourages a creative interpretation of the theme. Roberta

I should actually remove this image now, but I'm asking for your indulgence. It's *not* a great image (and it's sure not going to win) by any means, but I've enjoyed the discussion it's provoked, so I'd like to leave it here for that reason alone. PhilM a.k.a. ViewFinder

Like everyone else has said, the idea has potential but just fell a little short. It is all about learning and getting better :)

I neither like nor dislike this image. I don't think it's particularly on topic (although I can see the humour), but I can see the potential. No, it's not a photo someone would hang on a wall, but then photos are used for many other things, such as advertising, documentary etc. This photo would be better shot from very low down, with a wide angle lens. Include more of the blue shirt and give us something sticking out of the open fly......shirt or underwear. That would make it more funny, I think.

Oh, boy, being forced to put my money where my mouth is here. Yikes! Ok, here goes. This is just a snapshot - more of a joke for the topic, but nothing that's been executed in any photographic style or has any art to it at all. Go retake it thinking like a photographer. :) Take Iso for example. He's always joking around in his shots, but he executes them with complete and total devotion to detail. Think of your shot as a storyboard sketch and then run with it, giving thought to all the details of the presentation. ~ Lonnit

To make it more interesting: Make the person with the fly open look like they are walking and have someone in the background with a face reacting to it, like he just came out of a washroom at a restaurant and another costomer notices, or something like that. But to make it work you would need someone who doesn't look like their just making a weird face, they would need to look shocked and/or ammused. Without some human element it just looks like a picture of pants.

What would make this image more humorous would be if the shirt were sticking out of the zipper, making it look less staged maybe. It would add more color to the photo as well. -Byron

Thanks all for the comments, and I appeciate the honestly. To be frank, no it's not an image I'd put on my own wall, and sadly I don't have a body like the guy Vikas uses, so that wasn't an option! It was just the first idea that struck me. There are certainly better possible interpretations of this, but most of those ideas wouldn't be suitable for this gallery! :) VF

Having read a bit of the thread on this challenge, Karthik suggested that he didn't really know where to start with a comment for this. My previous comment was rather cursory so i'll have another go. Being honest I like it, but its not the winner. Thats my feeling but im stuck on how to constructively suggest how to convert this idea into a winner. Its a bit of a tongue in cheek entry and perhaps because of that will not be taken seriously. I can imagine a more atmospheric image of a model like the man Vikas uses, with a much more subtle 'open fly' situation. This would be my way of improving the idea. Thats not to say I don't like it, but, you did put a * by the name! - Jono

Yes, good interpretation! But you could have done way better than this. It's not appealing to me. Sorry I couldn't give you any constructive suggestions. May be I'll come up with another image of same sort if time permits. - Karthik

Funny! This was one of my first ideas too! I wasn't going to use it though, as I have several other ideas I like even more. I imagined using some faded blue-jeans. --Olaf
