Hangin' On*
Jeffrey Greeniaus

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

A little damselfly clinging to a grass of some sort... those things that look like sensor dust are just stuff in the water... I checked just now; worried me for a sec cause I finally got around to cleaning it last week. :o) Any comments (on the photo) would be great!

Actually recently (past couple of weeks) the damselflies (I thought they were dragonflies too until my entomology book fixed me up) have been around in swarms in the reeds and the forest around Hawerlak Park... maybe something to do with all the mosquitos. If you just stand still for a few moments they tends to stop worrying much about you...and when they don't they normally (about 75% of the time for these ones) go back to where they lifted off from. You can get pretty close if you're really slow like me. :o)

Thank you for the comment, I like the colours too (this is one of the few pictures where just duplicating the layer and setting one to multiply worked really well, it doesn't normally).

Cheers,

Jeff

Hey... A fellow Edmontonian. I love how crisp this photo is. How hard was it to find a dragonfly and have it stay put?
