Lime n Lemon
by Vikas

Got my new lens, the 100mm macro, today, and was dying to try it out the whole day long but had to wait till the evening to finally reach home and take this shot. Had to take about 20 shots to capture this one; one hand on the shutter (camera on tripod) the other squeezing the lemon to get the drops. Was fun but a trifle frustrating when my hand coordination went awry. But kept trying and am kind of glad that I did. :-)

Let the drops fall where they may. Another great one, Vikas. Shu

Thanks Grant and have to confess that I was extremely tempted to align the drops straight but then this is actually how they fell so was torn between aligning them or letting them be and finally went with the latter. Cheers. >>> Vikas.

i like this too, but i would have moved the drops to align vertically. just my $.02.

Thanks Jon, yes would have liked to have used a higher shutter speed, more like 1/1000 but was limited to 1/250 since the 10D can't handle faster than that with external strobes. Guess I need to go and buy a 550 flash for high speed flash synchronisation. Just bought two lenses so guess the flash will have to wait till I accumulate more moolah. ;-) ............... Vikas

I like it, although there's slight motion blur on the falling drops. I think it'd look better if they we either completely sharp or more blurred to give a feeling of movement. Have you considered adding some PS motion blur?

Also (picky, picky) I'd prefer some less diffuse highlights on the liquid. Perhaps some interesting relefections.

Still, it's yet another shot up to your usual standards. You're becoming predictable Vikas. Predictably good!

Thanks Angela/Melissa. The backdrop was an orange/brown sheet of poster paper. Cheers... Vikas.

wow as usual, your shots blow me away. question, (if you don't mind) was the background originally orange or was that after the fact? wonderful shot!

Cool idea, Vikas, and congrats on the new lens! It's a wonderful piece of glass. This is a great photo, good colors and detail. Those lemon drops are awesome!
