I thought of this possibility too - but not on a cactus! Maybe because cacti don't grow here in Denmark, at least not outside. I was imagining an inscription in the bark of a tree... As for constructive criticism (*), the lighting is not the best here - looks like hard mid-day sun - and part of the inscription is in the dark shadow of the leaf above. The traditional lighting for this kind of shot would be a softer, more diffused light. If the sun's out, you'd need some kind of light diffuser, or wait until it's in the shade, but I'd imagine this would also work well to shoot at night or twilight - using the 'painting with light' technique Angela masters so well.
